>> Find out more <<It’s been five years since Alex, Tom and I launched Gather, and it’s both exciting and humbling to reflect on how our company has grown and evolved in that time.
More than 5,000 restaurants and venues across the U.S. use our software to manage (and grow) their events business; in 2017 alone, they planned and managed over 700,000 events, grossing more than $1 billion. We’ve attracted attention from some of the industry’s top minds, and last year announced a strategic investment from Vista Equity Partners. We’ve grown from three guys in my living room to more than 80 amazing employees (and we’re still hiring!), and have built and maintained a fun, hard-working culture that I’m so proud of.
Today, I’m thrilled to share another milestone for our company: we are welcoming EVENTup into the Gather family. EVENTup has built a top marketplace for event spaces and venues, connecting millions of event planners to over 7,500 event spaces and venues in more than 300 cities across the country. Like us, they are committed to the mission of making event planning simple, intuitive and fun. Together, we will serve over 12,500 restaurants, event spaces, and venues, connecting our customers to millions of planners throughout the U.S. to grow their events business.
And this is only the beginning! Gather is always looking for ways to continue improving our product and, with our investment in EVENTup, we’re excited to explore opportunities to develop new, integrated offerings that support our customers in growing their events programs.
This is an exciting day for Gather, our new EVENTup colleagues, our customers, and the event industry as a whole. We’ve come a long way in five years, and I feel confident that the next five will take us even further. Stay tuned!

Banquet halls are a classic choice for events. Thus, owners and managers of these venues often have an easier time than nontraditional spaces when it comes to getting people through their doors. But whether business is slacking or steady, there’s always room for improvement.
