This is the second installment of our series of articles where we interview event salespeople behind some of the most popular venues across the country. Each series will highlight a different salesperson, their venue and some strategies they use to attract more business.

For this installment, we spoke with Farrah Butler, Sales Manager & Corporate Event Planner at Concentrics Hospitality Group in Atlanta, GA.

How long have you been in event sales?

2 years

What is your background?

I majored in Zoology/Pre-Veterinarian Medicine from Auburn University, and worked with animals managing an exotic animal show at SeaWorld, Orlando for 3 years prior to moving to Atlanta to work for Concentrics.

Tell us a bit about your space!

I manage a variety of unique event spaces in each of our 9 locations across Atlanta including ONE. midtown kitchen (pictured), TWO urban licks, TAP, PARISH, The Spence, Lobby Bar and Bistro and ROOM at Twelve. We can accommodate corporate functions for private parties as large as 350 guests.

What type of events do you usually host?

The most awesome events in town! We host mostly corporate and social events.

What strategies/tactics do you use to find new leads?

By being personal with my clients and building close relationships with those around me, professionally or socially, leads present themselves without even looking.

How has Gather helped your business?

Gather has opened up a whole new world for event sales in restaurants. Having 9 locations across Atlanta, Gather helps us consolidate and easily share what we have to offer to individuals looking to plan an event. It has also kept us more organized in the office as the template for events is easily read, and we have a whole account database within a few clicks of the mouse!

What is one challenge you have faced in your role and how did you overcome it?

Memorizing constantly changing event menus, pricing and space detials for 9 different locations can be a little bit difficult, but someone’s got to do it!

What are 3 Tips you would give to other sales pros to help grow their business?

1.Be presentable – dress nice, do your hair and paint your nails (#3 is for the ladies)- first appearances are everything!

2. Listen to people when they talk and find out exactly what they want and then do that! Simple!

3. Most importantly – be a leader and not a follower!
